Today was a magical kind
of day. The kind of day where you don’t
even want to get out of bed because it just feels so good to lay there. But as you lay there you begin to think and
pretty soon you have to get up because the thoughts in your head drive you to
the point of need. A need that you must
do something, that you must accomplish and establish and all in all, become
somebody with these next 12 hours of your life.
Well, I got up. I opened my eyes and I started my day! I
drank coffee and I opened my bible. I
shut my bible without reading anything and I opened facebook…I went straight
for a message from a friend I had received a few days ago. I had been thinking about it for a few days
and I didn’t realize it was still in my head.
She had quoted a verse…
7 For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.
I started looking at this
verse a bit deeper and things started jumping out at me…
Did you know that “do not
fear” is written in the bible 365 times?
That’s a daily reminder that God is in control and we have nothing to be
afraid of.
We have been given a
Spirit of power…
Romans 8:11
And if the Spirit of him
who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the
dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives
in you.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill
you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with
hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8
But you will receive
power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Luke 4:18-19
18 “The Spirit of
the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]
That’s a lot of Power!
Just think if we really started to walk in that power??? We would be walking
across the water to raise the dead and heal the blind and deaf. We would be
turning the water to wine, and commanding the sun to stand still.
That would be awesome!
Now how about the Spirit
of Love???
John 3:16New
International Version (NIV)
16 For God so loved
the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life.
If that doesn’t
demonstrate the power of love nothing will! Handing over the person you most
value to be beaten and killed…All for LOVE.
….and, it worked. For the power
of God’s love cannot be overcome by death. Within those 3 days He was back, out
of that stage of death and sitting beside God on the throne in heaven.
It’s enough to give you
chills.
I still haven’t figured
out the whole “sound-mind” bit yet, because with all this going on well, who is
going to have a sound mind?!
But as 2 Timothy 2:7 says,
Reflect on what I am
saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.
I’ll keep seeking and I’ll
keep finding, because this I know with all my heart that Jesus is the answer to
all my questions. His revelation is
coming one step at a time, one day at a time.
I don’t know if I
accomplished all that I was intended to do today, but I do believe that Jesus
is looking down on me and saying, “well done good and faithful servant! Well
done!”
